CCNA training course in New York


Students taking the CCNA course will gain the ability to install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot route and switched networks. Implement and verify connections to remote sites in a WAN. This course also includes basic understanding of security threats. Introduction to wireless networking concepts and terminology.
This new curriculum also includes but not limited to the use of protocols like EIGRP, SLIP, Frame Relay, RIP Version 2, VLAN, Access Control Lists.

Learning Contents

Configure IP addresses, subnet mask on routers and hosts. Configure routing protocols.
Perform initial configuration on a switch and configure swiches with VLAN.
Implement and troubleshoot Access Lists on routers. Perform VLAN and routing protocol troubleshooting. Perform WAN troubleshooting. Describe STP. Evaluate TCP/IP communication and its associated protocols. Evaluate rules of packet control. Utilize the OSI model as a guide for network troublshooting. Design an internetwork using Cisco technology.

  • Use the OSI and TCP/IP models to explain how data flows in a network.
  • Describe the impact of applications ( Voice Over IP and Video Over IP) on a network.
  • Determine the path between two hosts across the network.
  • Differential between LAN and WAN operations.
  • Select appropriate media, cable and connectors to connect switches to other network devices and hosts.
  • Perform and verify initial switch configuration tasks including remote access management.
  • Verify network status and switch operation using basic utilities like ping, traceroute, telnet, SSH, arp, ipconfig, Show and debug commands.
  • Identify describe and resolve common switched network media issues, configuration issues, auto negotiation and switch hardware failures.
  • Describe enhanced switching technologies including but not limited to VTP, VLAN, PVSTP and 802.1q.
  • Configure verify and troubleshoot VTP and inter-VLAN routing.
  • Implement basic switch security including port security, trunk access, management, VLAN other than VLAN1.
  • Describe the operation and benefits of using private and public IP addressing.
  • Explain the operation and benefits of using DHCP and DNS.
  • Configure, verify and troubleshoot DHCP, DNS operation on a router.
  • Implement static and dynamic addressing services for hosts in a LAN environment.
  • Calculate and apply an addressing scheme using VLSM IP addressing design to a network.
  • Describe IPv6 addresses.
  • Identify and correct problems associated with IP addressing and host configurations.
  • Describe basic routing concepts including packet forwarding, router lookup process.
  • Describe operation of routers including router boot-up, POST and router components.
  • Configure, verify and troubleshoot RIPv2.
  • Configure, verify and troubleshoot OSPF.
  • Configure, verify and troubleshoot EIGRP
  • Verify router hardware and software operations using SHOW and DEBUG commands.
  • Implement basic router security.
  • Describe the standards associated with wireless media including IEEE WI-FI alliance, ITU/FCC.
  • Identify and describe the purpose of the components in a small wireless network using SSID, BSS, ESS.
  • Identify the basic parameters to configure on a wireless network to ensure that devices connect to the correct access point.
  • Compare and contrast wireless security features and capabilities of WPA including open, WEP, WPA-1 and WPA-2.
  • Identify common issues with implementing wireless networks including interface, miss configurations.
  • Describe today’s increasing network security.
  • Explain the need to implement a comprehensive security policy to minimize the threats.
  • Describe the functions of common security appliances and applications.
  • Describe recommended security practices including initial steps to secure network devices.
  • Describe the purpose and types of ACL.
  • Configure and apply ACL based on network filtering requirements including CLI/SDM.
  • Configure and apply ACL to limit telnet and SSH access to the router.
  • Verify and monitor ACL in a network environment.
  • Troubleshoot ACL issues.
  • Explain the basic operation of NAT.
  • Configure NAT for the given network requirements.
  • Troubleshoot NAT issues.
  • Describe different methods for connecting to a WAN.
  • Configure and verify a basic WAN serial connection.
  • Configure and verify Frame Relay on Cisco Routers.
  • Describe VPN technology including importance, benefits, role, impact, components.
  • Configure and verify a PPP connection between routers.
