These are what you will learn :

Student will be able to define network types, describe characteristics of networked attached storage; diagram common topologies; describe common types of cabling and media connectors; list network connectivity devices and describe their functions.

Student will be able to identify the layers of the OSI model The student will be able to define use of TCP/IP protocols; define the function of TCP/UDP ports, given five IP addresses (IPv4), and default subnet mask as appropriate; given a computer, use TCP/IP and configure using TCP/IP; given a scenario, identify the appropriate TCP/IP utility to use.

Student will be able to describe Microsoft Windows, UNIX OS, including features, requirements and client software; describe issues of compatibility and interoperability between the operating systems.

Student will be able to identify media and connectors for different networks; describe configuration requirements of WAN and remote access technologies; given a network, select appropriate network configuration settings; install and test NIC; connect clients to servers; identify a punch-down tool, tone generator, media tester define their purposes and demonstrate their uses.

Student will be able to select a primary client; manage user accounts and password security; given a case history of a system intrusion, identify the hacker technique and describe appropriate defense.

Student will be able to define clustering technology; list disk fault tolerance types; procedures for backup; describe procedures for virus protection; define patches and Service packs; given case history of system malfunctions, identify probable cause and propose an appropriate solution in each case.
