These are what you will learn :
Define an operating system; list current major versions of Sun Solaris, describe components of a Sun Solaris installation; Describe procedures to login, change a password and logout.
Define the file system; describe filenames, absolute vs relative filenames; given a pre-existing directory structure, display, navigate, and locate directories and files, make, rename and remove a directory, create, name, copy, move, rename and remove a file using both graphics mode and text commands; compress a large file as specified; display and modify file permission; search for and view contents of a specified file and count, sort, edit and redirect output as specified.
Describe procedures for using vi, command mode and input mode, moving the cursor, searching for and replacing a pattern, using line numbers, inserting and deleting data, undoing or repeating a change, copying and moving lines, writing data to a file.
Describe foreground and background processes, methods of suspending a process, display a list of suspended jobs, move a suspended job to the foreground, kill a process; pause, leave and return to an executing program, run a program in background, display a list of currently executing programs and kill a process as specified.
